Something spicy is cooking up this Sunday, October 2nd at Great Meadow Park at Briar Chapel, Chapel Hill, NC.! It’s the 9th Annual Pepper Festival, where 50 North Carolina Chefs, Brewers & Artisans gather to curate unique recipes that feature locally grown NC peppers and celebrate North Carolina’s sustainable agriculture. Tastings will range from savory bites, desserts and liquors infused with peppers – some sweet, some spicy, some smoky. These wonderfully unique dishes will be prepared by some of our local culinary favorites that include The Fearrington Granary, TOPO and Harvest 18, just to name a few.
Quench off the spice with some brew from Fullsteam, Carolina Brewery, Fortnight, Steel String, Four Saints, Crude Bitters, Mystic and more.
Two of the inaugural events that I am especially looking forward to this year include the Spicy Kid Chef Competition and the “Hot Glam” Fashion Show. The first event will pair local top chefs with aspiring kid chefs to cook up some AWESOME dishes! Chef mentors include Jay Pierce, Teddy Klopf, Teddy Diggs, Jason Smith, Colin Bedford and Angelina Koulizakis-Battiste.
This is a great event for singles & families of all ages. Kids 6 and under are Free! Kids 7-12 years old are just $5. You can get tickets at the door for $35. For more details on the event, visit pepperfestnc.org or for tickets, click here..
