Have you visited Cary Towne Center lately? Although it maybe smaller than the more popular Triad malls, like Raleigh’s Crabtree Valley Mall or Durham’s The Streets at Southpoint, it does have a couple anchor’s you will not find elsewhere in the Triangle, like Dillard’s and Dave and Buster’s. If you are a popcorn fanatic or looking for ready-made snack for your home, next party, tailgate event or are in need of a unique hostess gift, you will want to check out Doc Popcorn. Once you walk into the Northwest entrance of the mall, you will not escape the sweet buttery smell of popcorn from Doc Popcorn. As of Nov. 11th, Doc Popcorn merged with Dippin’ Dots – so you can have your popcorn, ice cream and eat it, too. Doc Popcorn creates their own proprietary blends using high-quality ingredients that are free of trans fats, MSG, artificial colors and preservatives. There are eight popcorn varieties which can be mixed to concoct your own flavors and can be purchased in small, medium or large bags as well as regular-sized or large tins. Flavors include: Apple Crisp, Caramel Kettle, Sweet Butter, Klassic Kettle, Hoppin’ Jalapeño, Triple White Cheddar, Cheesy Cheddar and Better Butter.
You can also mix and match flavors to create a “Mix”. A couple popular concoctions include the Chicago Mix which combines Caramel Kettle and Cheesy Cheddar. Sweet & Spicy blends Hoppin’ Jalapeño and Caramel Kettle. Better Sweet is a fusion of Better Butter and Sweet Butter popcorn. Southwest Spice is a mixture of Cheesy Cheddar and Hoppin’ Jalapeño. If your favorite mix is not any of the above, order the Smile Mix and create your own delectable concoction. If you do not like mixing your flavors, you can add a single flavor to up to fours flavors that are each separated with a partition.
Doc Popcorn has an assortment of tins to choose from including their signature Doc Popcorn Tin. Other tins include seasonal, UNC Chapel Hill Tar Heel and NFL Carolina Panther Tins. Regular-sized tins sell for $30 and large tins sell for $35. Save your tin and get a refill for $15. Don’t forget your Doc Popcorn loyalty card when you purchase your tin. After your 6th purchase, Doc Popcorn will refill your tin for free.
When I visited Doc Popcorn, I walked away with a large tin of my popcorn favorites including Caramel Kettle, Hoppin’ Jalapeño, Triple White Cheddar and Cheesy Cheddar. The Popcorn tins are a cool gift for a popcorn lover, great ready-made snack to have at home for your next party or tailgating event. Doc Popcorn pops their kernels each morning and three to four times a day after that, depending on the demand. If you want a freshly popped batch for your tin, you can call ahead to have your tin prepared and packed with your desired flavors. Each Doc Popcorn tin is carefully prepared and sealed to ensure freshness for up to two weeks.
While visiting Doc Popcorn, don’t forget to try Dippin’ Dots. I don’t have the chance to try this ice cream brand often, but when I do – it is fun and delicious. My favorites are Cookies ‘n Cream and Candy Bar Crunch. Doc Popcorn & Dippin’ Dots also sells refreshments and cotton candy. If you are in the military or a Cary Towne Center mall employee, you are eligible for a 10% discount. Doc Popcorn is located inside Cary Towne Center Mall at 1105 Walnut Street in Cary, NC. This is amazing. I see something like this for the first time. In my country most of the people eat salt popcorn or popcorn made on a butter. Once I have tried sweet popcorn and I must say I’m not a fan of it. I think it’s because I have used to the salt one 🙂 Doc Popcorn has some interesting choices I must admit.
